Always choose the best scaffolding for the current tasks, materials, weather and employees; Make sure all scaffolding tools and materials are kept at least 10 feet away from power lines (or at least be sure the nearest lines are de-energized); Be sure all of the posts, legs, uprights and frames are on mudsills or baseplates;
Scaffolding planks should be placed close to one another. There should never be more than one inch of open space around the uprights; All metal parts of the scaffolding should be regularly checked for rust, broken welds, holes and other problems gyqdlqha; Employees must always be given safe access to scaffolding; the cross braces should never be used like ladders; All workers on scaffolding must wear hard hats to protect themselves from falling objects; Sturdy guardrails must be maintained on the scaffolding platforms where work is being done; Workers and inspectors must report all wooden planks with splits or cracks larger than one-quarter inch; Construction site managers must carefully review the scaffolding manufacturer’s guidelines for properly using tie-ins, braces and guying to prevent the scaffolding from tipping.
